Issue when importing CRM2011 solution

Jan 5, 2012 at 11:25 AM

Hi, I have just tried to import the solution for the CRM 2011 version and received the below.

"A managed solution cannot overwrite a {0} component on the target system that has an unmanaged base instance.  The most likely scenario for this error is that an unmanaged solution has installed a new unmanaged {0} component on the target system, and now a managed solution from the same publisher is trying to install that same {0} component as managed.  This will cause an invalid layering of solutions on the target system and is not allowed."

Has anyone else ever come across this and how did you resolve it?

Cheers

In order to troubleshoot this issue, it is necessary for you to download the import log file.  I need to know which component is causing the issue.

Hi,

It failed on Entity Mapping for systemuser-contact. 0x8004F016

"A managed solution cannot overwrite the EntityMap component with Id=b57b11f7-b1de-4ce0-b0da-a184de1426af which has an unmanaged base instance.  The most likely scenario for this error is that an unmanaged solution has installed a new unmanaged EntityMap component on the target system, and now a managed solution from the same publisher is trying to install that same EntityMap component as managed.  This will cause an invalid layering of solutions on the target system and is not allowed."

The import took place on an organistaion that was upgraded from CRM4.0. The Organistaion also has the Customer Care Accelerator solutions installed (ReferenceImplementationforUII & UiiForMicrosoftDynamicsCRM2011).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ah.  You must have had another relationship between user and contact.  This is a known defect in CRM 2011.  Here is some good news though - UR6, which was released yesterday, fixes this issue.  Please apply UR6 to your CRM server and then try to re-import the solution.  Otherwise your only workaround is to delete your custom relationship between user and contact, then import, then add your relationship back in.

Hi. We experience the same problem as described earlier, but with a different component:

"A managed solution cannot overwrite the SavedQuery component with Id=61273827-328e-e011-95ae-00155d9cfa03 which has an unmanaged base instance. The most likely scenario for this error is that an unmanaged solution has installed a new unmanaged SavedQuery component on the target system, and now a managed solution from the same publisher is trying to install that same SavedQuery component as managed. This will cause an invalid layering of solutions on the target system and is not allowed"

This is a import of a managed solution from one CRM Online to another CRM Online instance. It contains Account, Contact, Case and some custom entities. When we remove Account from the solution, the error occures on Contact, when we remove Contact, the error occures on Case. If we remove all the standard entitities, the import works fine.

When we import the same (managed) solution, including standard entities, to an On-Premise instance, it works just fine. (I have no control over the server, but I assume the On-Premise has RollUp 6 installed). This is all Norvegian installations.

Does anyone know if this is a bug in CRM Online, any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks

Btw: Correction, the On-Premise has Rollup 5 installed.
